Saddam and Iraq

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that it is now confirmed that Saddam had:

• No weapons of Mass Destruction


• Would have been happy to formulate an alliance with the US due to fears over Iran


• No links to Al-Qaeda whatsoever

So, remind me again why the US deemed it so necessary to invade Iraq, and cause the deaths of tens (or even hundreds) of thousands of civilians and military personnel?

Oh, that's right....
